Planning a school visit

All Gvants workshops are planned in consultation with headteachers, RE leads and teaching staff, so a visit complements your curriculum and the topics your pupils are studying.

Sessions are interactive, inclusive and age-appropriate, using discussion, storytelling, artefacts, practical activities, music, dance and food as appropriate to the group.

Three simple steps

Tell us about your pupils and topics

We start with a conversation: the year groups taking part, the RE or topic work already underway, and what you would like pupils to come away with.

Agree activities and practical arrangements

Together we shape the activities, the shape of the session and the practical details — space, timings, materials, dietary requirements and consent where relevant.

Welcome the Gvants team

We arrive with artefacts, textiles, materials and equipment, and deliver the session with your staff alongside us.

Ways a visit can work

Assemblies and introductions

Assemblies and introductory sessions last 40 minutes or longer and can focus on Sikhi, Sanatan Dharm/Hinduism, India and its culture and traditions, or a specific topic your pupils are studying. Displays, artefacts, interactive discussion and questions keep the whole room involved.

Individual workshops

A single class or year group works in depth on one topic, with the practical activities agreed in advance.

Combined cultural days

Several activities can run across a wider group — dance, henna, clothing, food and religious learning in rotation. Get in touch to talk through what would suit your timetable and numbers. See how one school approached this in the Festival of Eastern Delights 2025.

Adapting for your group

Workshops can be adapted to pupils' ages, abilities and curriculum needs, including SEN groups. This is a conversation with your school rather than a fixed offer, so tell us about the group and we will talk through what will work.
